We would like to provide you with a source of general information about pregnancy and how your prenatal care will be managed. We understand that pregnancy is both exciting and at times anxiety-provoking. This is a broad outline of information that should be useful and help answer some of your questions. All the information presented may not apply to you and there will be questions that we have not answered. Always, when you have questions, bring them up at your visits, or if more urgent, call us and we will try to respond quickly and considerately.
Obstetrical care in our practice is a collaboration between your doctors and mid-level providers. We have one office and one hospital and believe that centralization is in everyone’s best interest. You may be absolutely certain that you will be delivered in the outstanding facilities at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital.
Prenatal visits will occur on a regular schedule throughout your pregnancy. Some will be very quick while others will be longer involving ultrasounds, blood work or additional testing. We work with excellent Maternal Fetal Specialists who provide advanced genetic testing and assistance with high-risk pregnancies.
Nights and weekends you may reach the on-call doctor by calling our answering service (301-446-2740). We should return your call within 15 minutes. If you have not received a callback within that time, please notify the service. We never ignore a call from our patients.
If you are having a problem please be available to take our call as you are the person best able to respond to our questions. Have a pharmacy number available if you think you may need a prescription. Finally, please do not have a block on unidentified phone numbers on your phone line. Most of our phone numbers are unlisted and if you have a block we will be unable to contact you.
